just an ordinary girl

Reach me

Sliver of me

There’s a part of me
That will always want you.
It’s small, quiet, a whisper, but it’s there
And when all the other parts of me shut their mouths,
The one you own speaks up,
Whispering to my heart, making it hurt when I see you with someone
New.
It’s impossibly hard to move on
When you still have that piece of me.
But as the days drag on,
The piece you own starts to grow quiet.
I see you less and eventually you will disappear.

But one day I’ll see you in the grocery store
And the piece of me will flip flop like always

And I’ll smile
And give it the recognition it deserves.
